These 6 weeks have flown by!

Macro Dragon (and the community!!) have helped me start putting MYSELF first, how to listen to + take care of my body, and how to treat myself and my body with RESPECT. I have learned how to meal prep and cook healthier (and yummy) meals for my family. And most importantly, I have learned that I don't have to be perfect.

Value consistency over perfection.

​​My daily life is reminiscent of a really fun shit show.

 

I rarely plan ahead, constantly scrambling to everything and always forgetting something. Thanks to Macro Dragon and my AMAZING coaches, Katie & Liz even when I go into the week completely unprepared, I can still whip up a bad ass healthy meal.

 

OLD me would grab a waffle and put peanut butter on it but the NEW me grabs a Costco roasted chicken and puts together a super, filling high protein, low fat lunch. Now I’m eating so much more food and eating better so I don’t feel the need to snack.

 

I am eating more, feeling great, toning up, and losing weight.

 

Thanks Macro Dragon for all the help. It’s only been a couple of months but I’m already loving the NEW ME!

I’ve always enjoyed being active. In High School, I was a runner and through early adulthood. In my 30s (with 2 daughters), I started FIT workouts and body weight workouts.  Fast forward to my 50s and the pandemic... I also started to drink quite a lot (the stress of being a nurse was very high!) Every day was an occasion to drink!!! I had been a Weight Watchers junkie since my late 20s. I could “count points” and lose 5-15 pounds. Then add back 8-12.

In the past 18 months, I gained 15Ibs. WHILE working out, walking “fast”, eating “healthy” (lots of nuts, salads, breakfast was a breakfast bar at 11am, sparse lunch then ravenous and grumpy at work by 4pm. Dinner was healthy but sides were tortilla chips/queso, giant popcorn bowls with butter or cookies, cookie batter etc.

After a road trip and some hiking across Tennessee and North Carolina and sampling fried green tomatoes and cheese grits, I was at my heaviest non-pregnant weight.

The results of my workouts were not apparent. I started dieting AGAIN the day after my 54th birthday.

Soon I was waking up in middle of the night with headaches and hunger. Old IBS symptoms returned immediately with this “diet”.

 

Now, I’m eating more than I can remember! Stomach pain and headaches are GONE, sleep is deep, and energy is UP! I rarely drink. I’m like a hobbit and eat 2 (sometimes 3 breakfasts). I want to age well, hike and stay as strong as possible. Macro Dragon with Liz and Katie introduced me to amazing concepts-Slow down, sleep, LIFT, and EAT!

I’m not exaggerating when I say that the past six months with Macro Dragon have been transformational.

 

While the changes to my body have been encouraging (not gonna lie), that wasn’t the most important change I’ve experienced. I have gained so much from the coaching team and the broader MD community in terms of building good habits, treating myself kindly, and maintaining perspective on what it means to be healthy.

 

The most amazing part of all of this is that I did not come into this process expecting anything more than to lose some pounds…and working with Macro Dragon is SO much more than that!

Before I found out about Macro Dragon I was eating less than 1200 calories a day, maybe 50 grams of protein if that. I would skip breakfast, eat something small if anything at all for lunch and binge eat when I got home.

 

When I started this journey I was the biggest I have ever been. I knew I needed to change my lifestyle but didn’t know where to start.

 

That’s when I saw Katie posting about Macro Dragon and I decided to start with a step challenge. Enjoying the step challenge I decided this is what I needed. My husband is always by biggest supporter and told me to go for it if that’s what I felt I needed.

 

Fast forward 3 months into Macro Dragon, I’m eating way more calories, doubling my protein and carbs. I have more energy, my bloat is down, I have started meal prepping and it all has helped me enjoy food more.
 

I’m feeling better about myself not only physically but mentally. I still have a long way to go and can’t wait to continue this journey with Macro Dragon. I want to be a better version of myself for my husband and kids.
